Hush, Little Baby music box
Hush, Little Baby is a lullaby of promises: a mockingbird, a diamond ring, a looking glass, each one offered to keep a little one settled. It is a song about being looked after.

The story behind the tune
The lullaby is a traditional folk song thought to come from the southern United States. Nobody knows who wrote it; like many lullabies, it was passed from parent to child long before it was written down.
Each verse adds a new gift and a new small catastrophe, and singers have always felt free to invent their own. That openness is part of the charm. Every family ends up with its own version.
How it sounds on a music box
The melody is short and repeats with every verse, so the whole idea of the song fits naturally into a music box arrangement. Final arrangements for the Musical Drawer are still being developed.
